When you check who is online here there is a tag that says currently active users. At this time there are 81 there. What makes a currently active user?? Arne.

Any member that has logged in within a preset time. Maybe 30 days. Beyond that time period, whatever TexBrew has it set for, you are no longer classified an active user but are still a member.

I thought "active users" were anyone viewing the forum and it included "members" and "guests" (i.e. non-members). If you sum the members and guests it always equals the total active users and the members who are on line are listed below the line.

Rocky is correct, it is the number of members and guests currently online

Yep^ and then below that it tells you who those people are who are online.

Does "active users" mean those who are actively online or just shown as logged in? I don't log out so I might always be shown as online and I would guess that a lot of members do the same.

Ok let me correct my earlier post. Active Users are those signed in whether on or not (members and guests). Active Members are those members who have signed in during the last specific time period set by administration.

My bad.

I know where to see active users. Where do I look for active members?

Steve

I dont see an Active members. Maybe in the administrative area but not on the front page.

Wade...

8,109 members. I was just wondering how many have been active (ie signed in) at least once in the last 'period'. I don't actually care what the period is, but last month, 3 months, somethig like that would be interesting. djrockinsteve's comment seemed to give a way to answer that q.

I dug deep in the control panel and found where the "active user" settings was but it was set to 0 meaning that it was set so that anyone ever on this forum was an "active user" I changed it to 90 days but it wont go retro so we'll just have to wait now to find out how many are truly active and it says this now on the front page right near Members online. Wish I had the answer for you guys but this is the best that can be done.

Thanks Wade. That will be interesting to watch (if I remember).

Hopefully I did everything right. Right after setting that up I logged off and came back on and couldnt get back on this site and thought I screwed it up! Whew!!!!!

I guess it took 24 hours to go retro. I know it sometimes takes a day to do stuff similiar to this like when I delete a banner for a advertiser that quit it took a day to do which drove me nuts as I thought I didnt remove it siccesfully so tried like 8 times and finally gave up thenm logged on next day and it was gone. Glad our answer came sooner then later.
