Today I sorted old PC equipment for donation. I've been building PCs for 30 years, and have collected a serious amount of junk. Unfortunately, most of it is just that -- junk.

However, I found an organization about 25 miles away that takes donations, and re-purposes old equipment as much as feasible. Anything they can't use, gets recycled.

I have 3 laptops (all "run", one is questionable), old motherboard, old GPU, LOTS of cables, etc.

I got the non-laptop materials sorted -- it fits in 2 large boxes.

I'm keeping 2 each of any type of cable I might possibly use, but have enough chaff to fill the aforementioned 2 boxes. If all goes well, later this week I'll make the trip and donate this.

The materials I'm keeping fit in 2 small boxes. MUCH better.

I did that awhile back. I had to check every out of the way cubbyhole for old drives, memory sticks, motherboards, etc. before I got it all. Send it to be "recycled." I hope it was, lol.

Ms. Jswordy found small leak in a bathroom supply line, so I replaced that. Just about to do a small amount of painting in the living room, in prep for a larger amount after this dries. I am throwing myself to the mercy of the gods of color matching, lol... they are so often fickle...

I got the grinder out again today, this time to try the shredder -- making fried potatoes AKA hash browns.

The shredder worked well, about 2 minutes to do what would take over 10 minutes with a hand-held shredder, and the bonus is no change of cutting my knuckles! Clean up was easy - this is unlike the KitchenAid shredder, which I recall was not as easy to clean.

I soak the potato in water for 5 minutes then drain. For frying I season with various things (this time seasoned salt, black pepper, paprika, and Costco no salt seasoning). And added 1 medium onion and 1 shallot, minced.

I take my old electronics to Staples for free recycling. Our transfer station charges ridiculous amounts if you decide to toss them. Old TVs I've taken to Best Buy, but there's a hefty fee if it's not their own brand.

We have a community recycling center that accepts electronics. No charge.

Heading home today from Vegas. My wife and a friend spent yesterday at a trade show which gave me a chance to visit my best friend. They’ve had no rain or snow even up on mount Charleston, creeks are bone dry. Enjoyed lunch at a well known Local Mexican restaurant and caught up on life. Can’t wait to get out of this city, non stop noise and crowds.
