FOR EXAMPLE
1ST READING 12% ( = 1.090 SG)
2ND READING 0% ( = 1.000 SG)

POTENTIAL ABV 12%
OR
1ST READING 13% (=1.098 SG)
2ND READING 1% (=1.008 SG)
POTENTIAL ABV 12%
I copied this post from the Hydrometer thread to use an example.
In brewing we would calculate the alcohol by taking the OG reading 1.090 and subtract the FG reading 1.000. That equals 0.09 then multiply by 129 = 11.61 %. Can't remember the reason for using 129.
