I picked up 50 pounds of strawberries last night at Aldi. They were going for 1.49 a pound. The checkout girl didn't even blink at my cart.

So, i worked until 12:30am. The berries were nice, very little waste. Weight after cleaning, culling the random berry with mold, and coring: 47 pounds. I got about 4g of juice out of them.

Good deal. How did you juice your berries? I'll be taking mine from the freezer tonight. I'm going to steam juice them tomorrow during the day then get the batch started over the weekend.

After cleaning & coring, they went right into the steamer-juicer. I didn't even freeze them this time. Then, I took all my sludge and put it into the Victorio strainer and squeezed out the last bit of juice.

I was surprised how nice the berries were at that price. I'd forgotten about Aldi's, as it's about 20 minutes from where I live.

I was impressed last year which is why I looked for them to go on sale again this year. I know around here, they won't be found at that price the rest of the summer. Nice yield on the juice. I'll post my results tomorrow sometime. Any specific recipe you use?

This was the recipe I used last year. It came out really nice. I made another 5g of that this spring with berries from my garden.

That said, I'm going to try something different this batch, including adding a couple of bananas and perhaps two cans of concentrated white grape juice rather than raisins. I've got a few hours to come up with a plan. LOL

We get much nicer berries at the "pick your own" place a few miles away. I got Walmart strawberries for 1.50 today. It will get me by until I pick the really nice and ripe ones!! I have some volunteers growing in my flower gardens... came from compost, I imagine. We've been picking them for 3 yrs now... I don't treat them special... just keep some of the runaway flowers from taking them over.
