Mike (Ibglowin), I don't believe you are in harms way, but are you getting any smoke from the wildfires in Arizona? I heard that they are approaching the New Mexico border.

We have been getting slammed everyday now for the last week with smoke. The fires are about 200 miles from us "as the crow flies". A few evenings we have had smoke so bad you would swear the fire was in town, right in your backyard. At times you can actually see ash falling. This AM they are saying its 5% contained but I suspect its really 0% contained and the 5% is actually wishful thinking.

This will for sure go down as an all time worst fire for the SW area. It will cross the AZ/NM State line sometime today.

Here is a cool pic taken at Abiquiu Lake just up the road from us.

Wow, that is a nice pic but I don't know how nice I would think it was if that was just up the road from me.

Good luck to you out there

A couple of days ago we had what should of been a nice clear sunny day. It was kinda hazy tho. The news that nite said it was smoke from Arizona. Our thoughts are with you folks down there and wishing ya all the luck in the world. And maybe a nice 2 inch rain too. Arne.

Here in Colorado Springs, we have been dealing with the smoke for days. On the worst days, even though the mountains are very near, we can only see their outline. Some days, when the wind in Arizona are out of the west, we don't get as much smoke; Mike gets it ALL. When it is out of the southwest, we get hammered.

When I start getting grumpy about all the smoke, I just stop and think about the poor Arizona folks in the direct path of that fire. Then I don't feel so grumpy anymore.

We keep saying it over and over this is one hell of a year. Part of the country got blown away, part is getting washed away and other burnt up. It sure makes me appreciate the long winter and lousy Spring we had. Hang in there Folks you're in our thoughts and prayers.

You know hearing about all of this on the news is one thing but hearing it directly from our friends on these forums whom we talk to everyday makes it really personal.
