yes ma'am that's what I did took a half gallon out and put it in a pan with the sugar heated just enough for it to melt put it back in the carboy . of course I sanitized everything from the pot to the wooden spoon I stirred it withAnd for the record, I take out some wine, add sugar to that, warm it up and then add back the sweeten wine.
