I started Wine making on a rather small scale, just to see if it was one of these hobbies you got bored of. Made a couple of 5 ltr Kits which turned out better than expected.

Then the Blackberries turned up early in the Season, so I got picking, picked enough for 30 ltr but still only owning one 5 ltr bucket, so got on with making a batch and freezing the remainder. This first batch on first tasting, made me feel quite excited, mmmmm, it was lovely.

At my local Farm shop, there's some Blackberry Wine, so i purchased a bottle to compare. What a disappointment, it tasted like Cordial, thick and syrupy, plus it was the most expensive bottle of wine I've ever purchased.

So now I have 2 !0 ltr buckets of Blackberry Wine on the go, which are bubbling away very nicely in the kitchen.

I've misplaced the recipe, so I'll post it another time.

awesome keep us posted and get some pics to we like those :D

I started a blackberry last night. Pitched the yeast this morning. Was out of straining bags so I am anticipating some curse words being uttered come time to rack to 2ndary!:d It's going to a be a long 12 months on this one.:sl

I've been using a fine mesh stocking to strain, it works really well, I used to use stockings to clean out the Fish tank many years ago, that's where the idea comes from, you should try it, plus it's re-usable. :i
