That video is spot on. Basically, I did a white screen on an lcd tv (the lcd is important, you must have a polarized light source) with a cheap 8x11" polarized filter from amazon. Stand the carboy on a milk crate between the lcd and the filter. It takes some fiddling to get the angle of the filter right. Too much and it is black. Not enough angle and it doesn't show anything.
