Hi all,

Pat here, a relative newbie. This is our 3rd kit, and the first with grape skins/fruit. We are excited about this one, but one question we have is, the instructions didn't indicate clearly whether the raisins were to be included with the skins in the little sock that came with the kit, or just toss them in with the juice? We did the latter, but now have some concern that they should have gone into the sock...

IMO, it doesn't matter to the wine. It might matter to the wine maker when you transfer to carboy.

I agree with Steve above especially if you use a spigot to rack your win e from the bucket. I keep a few of those muslin bags handy as they are cheap and sold at ant beer or wine making supply. I throw each in a different bag just to have room in each for the wine to get in there and do its thing. That bag might not have fit both very well if at all. Ive done these kits with the skins and all floating and its a bit messy trying to get your wine out of there afterwards. You may want to buy a little baby colander to skim all the stuff off the top to rack this later and to capture and press them a little.
