My usual process for removing labels is to put five or six bottles in a 5 gallon bucket. Fill with soapy water. Remove labels. Then let sit in regular water to clear out soap. Unbeknownst to me my wife took a bottle that had been filled with homemade salad dressing/vinegar and put it in my bucket of soapy water.
The problem now is that once drained all the wine bottles have an oily film on them.
How do I remove the oily film?
I was going to soak in a bleach/water solution.
Then sanitize with one step.

I did inquire with the maker of the homemade salad dressing. The vinegar used was not natural with the mother it was store-bought so there shouldn't be concerned cross-contamination.

Any other ideas about removing a receipt vinegar from off of wine bottles.? I would hate to lose the six bottles and have to throw them out.

although I am a new wine maker, I would suggest, (not advise) hot water.
I use vinegar on my jet ski parts and my boat parts all the time ..then rinse with hot water before I lubricate everything. Maybe a neutral cleaner like tsp....

hot water with a good grease cutting dish soap. Let them soak half an hour ,rinse well then sanitize. Hope this works for you. I've had greasy residue on mine in the past and the dish soap worked well.
