What is the difference between Potassium Metabisulfite and Sodium Metabisulfite? I can buy Campden tablets made from either. Thanks. bk

Both are a sanitizer but in different strengths. Sodium is used less due to the salt.

Most rely on Potassium Metabisulfite anymore. You can however often find both in some camden tablets.

Sodium (Na-meta) is usually cheaper (when available) than potassium (K-meta), so some folks use sodium for sanitizing, and potassium for wine additions.

BTW, consider switching to powder rather than campden tablets. Easier to use.

As said above but some people claim they can taste the difference in their wine meaning they can taste the salt in it so they use the k/meta. I use k/meta myself.
