So, my birthday was two weeks ago. For weeks leading up to my birthday, I have been hinting to my wife about how much I hate my mobile phone. I kept on complaining about the lousy photos it takes.

So, instead of getting me a new phone, my wife bought me a new, cheap, digital camera.

I was glad she listened to me, but sad that she did not understand what I was saying.. My fault, I should have been more direct.

Have to laugh (and hopefully you will appreciate this).

In this scenario, it sounds like you were the woman(throwing hints) and she was the guy (not getting it).

LOL.. Yup! I should not play the part of the wife, I am not very good at it. The silver lining is that I have an "out" the next time I do not listen.

I learned long ago to actually print out my wish list Alice's Restaurant style with circles and arrows and a complete discription on the back...big BOLD letters, no substitutions allowed. Man, I just got tired of paying for junk I didn't want.

It worked! She just doesn't get me ANYTHING now. GOOD.

If I really want something, I just go get it and get exactly what I want.

Getting nothing sure is better than having to sit on the "Group W" bench!

Oooohhhh, I sssooooo want to see Johns wine room.

OK, Here are a few pictures...

Pic 1: I have my main stack. The view is from behind my wet bar. This is where most of my "Bulk Wine" is stored. I pull from this throughout the year. You would be surprised, if you do a bit of entertaining, just how much wine you can go through. Each cube holds 5 cases.

Pic 2: to the left of the wet bar, I have my vault. This is where I store older vintages and also any expensive vintages that I have collected. I built this by partitioning off a corner of my basement (below grade). The partition is well insulated while the block wall of the basement is not. Being below grade and blocked off, it maintains very steady, cool, and humid conditions without the need of an environment control system. It is very rare that the temp get over 70.

Pic 3: Door open. The right wall has a "double rack" system that allows one bottle in front, and one in back. I can store twice the number of bottles in 1/2 the amount of wall space. I have a center support post that has a lever-action cork puller. I can yank a bottle and have it open in seconds!

Pic 4: The left wall of the vault has a series of smaller cubes (holding about 3 cases each) with a single rack surround allowing for individual bottle storage.

I tiled the floor with solid core tiles, the same type used in professional kitchens. They are thick, and mop up brilliantly. Perfect, considering dropping a bottle or two over the years is inevitable.

Please excuse the fuzziness of the pics. I was not kidding about hating my cell phone.

Also, you can see that I have some corks in there (bagged). I do not normally store them in the vault. They we put in there last week to get them out of the way while bottling.
