Just thinking of using about 1/2 acre of my land for growing grapes. I will be living (building a house on the other part of the property) close to several vineyards in the Northern Neck of Virginia. I really don't know how or where to start but have been reading about the process. I will be doing the work myself - just where to start and how to find the materials I will need. I want to protect the land from erosion as it will not be farmed any longer. If there are any grants available to establish a new "crop"? Thanks for any help and information.

Bet you have a county extension office. If so, go there. They can help steer you along. Should be able to help you with most of your start up questions. Arne.
