I possibly have a chance to get a few grapes. Can I make wine with them like we do with other fruits? In other words, can I use 4 to 10 lb. per gallon and come up with a decent wine? Not going to be enough to make straight juice to ferment. Arne.

you can do it where say you got 5 gallon of must after crushing you can add a gallon to a gallon and 1/2 of water and still make a wine with plenty of flavor long as you leave skins and all in for whole ferment. least thats what I'd do well really according to how the juice tasted if it was strong I'd probly add a little bit more than if it wasn't but not much

I wouldnt water down grapes myself with the exception of Scuppernongs and Muscadines as they are extremely high in acidity. Most others I recommend not diluting as youll loose too much flavor. For whites youll need about 16 lbs per gallon and reds youll need about 12 lbs per gallon.

I would think not. You probably need 12-15 lbs/gl.

I would not add water to grapes - you need a lot more #'s per gallon for grape wine - as you use only grape juice.

I use 18 #'s per gallon - that give me plenty for my target volume with enough left over for topping off.

Depending on the type of grapes... you can add other fruits or juice to it and make up the difference.

I was kinda afraid of that. Don't know what the grapes are, don't even know whether white or red. Will find out and find out how many I can get. Thhis is kinda thru thegrapevine, a buddy of mine has a coworker that bought a new house with vines. He says there are a lot, but that can be anywhere from a few grapes to many pounds. Will let you know if this goes any further. Arne.

Wade,
Glad to see you on here. You musta survived the big wind ok. It has cooled off enough I'm going to send the currant to you. Let me know if all the deliveries are going thru now or if I should wait a couple of weeks or so. Arne.
