You guys should know me well enough by now!

We can hope, can't we?!

Although, I don't know if things would ever be 'the same', if we did manage to convert John..

Never made Welches myself either, but I cant knock it 'til I try it :)

I like the new avatar though... Is that a statue? Of a man cranking on a press, that's awesome

JohnT, I am still reeling over the fact that you make skeeter pee!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm thinkin Welch's is really not out of the picture :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I have officially made several batches of Welchs

I just knew when I opened this thread it was going to say "I have officially made my first batch of Welchs and now I see what all the fuss is about".

Hey I am a new forum member too, and "I have officially made several batches of Welchs concentrate and now I see what all the fuss is about". Now that I figure out my Welchs concord concentrate recipe moving into frozen fruit.

Knock Welch’s all you want, but even my bad batches were party favorites. I will keep it in context: I am talking alcoholics not wine connoisseurs.

JohnT - now that you've changed your avatar and are part of the "Cool club" everyone is going to want to do it!

You are new-new; welcome... John's just trying to fit in with the Welches crowd, without Being in with the Welches crowd...

It's been a running-joke, for a few years now.. Us razing John about Welches... You'll come to understand that most of us have no problem with people who make Welches wine, and we're more than happy to help you get your batches to come out better...

But John has proclaimed himself a bit of a "Welches Snob" - he'd rather have a glass of yellow snow! :) (In all honesty though, he comes from a family that's been making wine for some generations; he knows his 'stuff')

It's all in good fun

To add to what Deezil has said, JohnT has been getting tease and more so by Runningwolf more than anyone else because of an incident that happen a couple of years ago.

Sure you can knock it! What's stopping you? :)

The statue is a rather famous one in Napa titled "the grape crusher" by Gino Miles (1986). It was commissioned as a tribute to wine industry workers and Napa's 200 year history of wine.

It stands 6 feet tall on a 10 foot base and weighs over 3 tons. If you do any touring of Napa, you can't miss it.

Skeeter Pee is hard lemonade and not wine, so my ancestors can rest easy and not haunt me in my sleep. Trust me, you never want to piss off a Hungarian Ghost.

(Actually, I make sparkling skeeter pee and have it running as a stand alone beverage in my 3 tap keg-r-ator).

<Sigh> There is noting wrong with being a wine connoisseur. Connoisseurs live in a place where taste is way more important than alcohol. If you prefer the taste of welches over any other wine that you could make, then it is all good. If not, then why not make something that you would prefer?

It is all in good fun. Although Welch's or Concord is not for me, as long as you enjoy it it is all good. No person's taste is wrong. Just read JSWORDY's signature.
