What size hose and racking tubes are ya'll using with this system?

I use the 3/8" tubes I had and added to them as needed. You could get the larger ones, but then the racking canes might not fit the orange caps.

Do you have issues with the orange caps sealing properly?

I never had any issues with them sealing completely. Just make sure they are on the carboy neck good and they seal fine.

I have gone to the 6.5, purple top on the 5-6 gallon carboys and they seem to work better when vacuum racking.

I have seen some orange caps that were very deformed in the stores. I only buy them when they are right in front of me so I can check them out, The 2 prongs that stick out can really be deformed also. I haven't seen the purple ones that another spoke of.

Yes, I have had one (out of 4) that just would not seal properly.

My orange cap occasionally will not be sealed when I start the vacuum. However, I find that if I hold it firmly in place for a few seconds and let the vacuum develop, it is soon well sealed.

I think I wii drill out a couple more bungs instead of using these
