Have only done whites so far except for a cab I just stabilized. The whites are easy to see through, but how can you tell a red is clear? Do I put some in a glass to check? Sounds like a reason to do a little taste.

lol, yes you can do that but you can also try shining a light thru it, the beam should shine thru

In my experience, a red wine, which is not clear, has sort of a cloudy appearance in the glass, when you look down into the glass from the top.

Also, as long as it is dropping sediment, it is not finished clearing. If you think it is clear, rack it and let it set 3 or 4 more weeks, then check for sediment. Don't get into any hurry.

Typically, if you use clearing agents and wait the proper amount of time called for, it should be pretty clear. Of course this is not always the case.

Put it in a glass and check it out.

put a few ounces in a glass - let it sit for a few hours. If it is not clear - you will see a ring of fine sediment forming around the bottom..
