Just got the electrcity back...

Hi all, we had a little storm got through central Ohio on Friday and we have been out of power since then. Just got everything back today and we are grateful to the fine work by American Electric Power (AEP). It was a minor inconvenience for us. When I see the devastation in Missouri and Colorado, I am embarassed to even mention it. Just want to let everyone know if you are wondering what happened to the forum members from central Ohio. Anyway, we are baa-ack!

Glad to hear it Rocky. I have many friends and relatives, including my son, in central Ohio. Many are still without power.

I am up near Toledo we dodged the bullet by about 25 mi.

On Saturday afternnon I saw 23 electric trucks going west through Ct. And wondering where they were going. They were all white with no names on them.

I was thinking of you Steve. I told Bev that I thought you would have just started setting up for your 6:00 PM gig when the storm hit just after 5:00 PM. I am glad you survived.

We lost some tree tops, my flag pole, patio table and umbrella and some flowers. It just slammed us and moved on. We had a good itme "playing pioneer" here. Luckily we have a gas range and the freezers worked for a few days and then became our refrigerators. I think we may have had to throw away a half a bag of food.

I introduced Bev to GI coffee and she loved it. Just boiled water in a pot, dumped the coffee in and filtered through a coffee filter (instead of a handkerchief). It was not a bad time at all, but the dogs were really confused!

Cindy, glad to hear that you are back with power. It really makes for long evenings, doen't it? I found myself going to be at about 10:00 PM instead of 12:00 or 1:00. Ate a lot less, too!

Wade, a lot of those trucks were probably heading here. We had crews from many other states, as far away as Texas. I love it when the people in this Country pull together.

Yeah Rocky, its not too often we all pull together for us instead of dumping on us and sending all support to another country that does nothing for us! And then they spit on us when we are leaving!

Glad you made it through OK. We had our share on Halloween last year. Lost power for 10 days...It got old real quick!

What a storm that was! There is still about 100,000 people here in NJ without power. We were one of the fortunate ones to not have ours knocked out but a few of my relatives have had theirs out since the storm came through. My husband's work has been all messed up all weekend because their backup generators don't have enough power to run the whole building all at once. What a mess that storm left. But like you said, at least we are not on fire like the towns are out west!

was driving through ohio on sunday down i-75....was dropping my gf's youngest son of in tipp city to meet up with his grandpa from tennessee....it was the 1/2 way point....saw quite a bit of devestation and debris along the sides of the road....saw some mangled billboards and silo roofs ripped off....one of the rest areas we stopped at was without power and water....we saw one of the convoys of utility trucks rolling north on i-75 as well while we were going south...it was definitely a pretty big convoy...at one of the rest stops, my gf talked to a woman that said she was from toledo, and they weren't expecting her power to be back on for quite some time so she was heading down to north carolina, where i guess she had family there...she claimed that's where she belongs....lol...also, saturday evening we went to a wedding of some friends of my gf...the groom's oldest sister lives in colorado...she said a few days before she was leaving to come for the wedding, they evacuated her from her home in fear of the fires in the area...she wasn't sure if she'd even have a home left to go back to....such a shame...weird weather all around if you ask me....
