I must admit that I learned about vinegar "eels" for the first time on this forum a few years ago. At the time, I noted something of a foible (in myself, but I suspect in many people): It does not bother me to eat a larger animal (say, a crab), and it does not bother me to eat a very small or microscopic creature (I dunno, say, plankton or even aphids on lettuce). But it bothers me to think about eating that intermediate scale creature like shown by @Scooter68 .
