Is this a novel idea for making wine remotely or a scam?
I 'spose that depends if one thinks that paying $67 per bottle for totally unknown wine is a scam. ;)

It's probably legit ... which doesn't necessarily make it a good idea or a good value.

Kind of expensive at $66.66 a bottle and only 6 of them are yours.
It's 12 bottles total:

Including 6 cuvées from La Bouvaude and 6 bottles of your own creation

Has anyone else seen this website? MyViny.com I honestly do not know what to think. Is this a novel idea for making wine remotely or a scam?
It's not a scam? It's not even something new. A couple in our old wine club joined a similar scheme years ago, they even went and picked their own grapes, but as Mainshipfred said it was very expensive just to get their name on not very special wine. After they received their first wine, they opted out. :slp

Sounds like something for our younger generations, don’t want to use too broad a brush but the overwhelming majority of people under about 30 don’t want to do anything but use computers and/or smart phones and such. I could see this appealing to the more affluent of them. But I’m a DIY kinda guy in many things so wine or beer making has always appealed to me.

Our winemaking club shut down several years back. By coincidence, I met the same couple in the supermarket a few weeks ago. 'Are you still making wine?' I asked them. 'Why bother, it's easier to pop a couple of bottles in the trolley' they replied.
Ah well, it takes all sorts. As they say where I come from, 'There's nowt so queer as folks.'

Hello everyone,

Nice to see MyViny discussed here!

This is not a scam. I understand your cautiousness though 👍

It's not a novel idea either. I know about two or three vineyards in France doing something more or less similar. But it's definitely not widespread.

winemaker81, thanks for the clarification, you indeed receive 12 bottles.

As winemanden mentioned you can also come to the Vineyard and help with the harvest or just to visit !

I didn't know about thewinefoundry.com, thank you Gilmango. I'll check this out.

You indeed get six bottles with your own label with MyViny (and six bottles from the domaine). But to me, the most interesting is that you get to learn quite a lot of things about winemaking. We also post regular updates about what's happening in the field. You can watch your vine grow. Moreover, you can vote and decide with your guild on some actions to be taken. For example: which type of plant to sow between the vine rows in autumn?

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer :)

Have a nice day!

Hello @Gaël_MyViny, thank you for replying. I apologize for calling your website a scam, perhaps that was too strong of a word. Having access to a French vineyard to make wine sounds super. If I were to join a group such as this, I would like to talk to vintners who could answer detailed questions about harvest timing, wine chemistry, flavor profile, barrel selection, aging and wine business. I guess that there is wide variation in the level of experience of your customers and I would not be a typical customer.

Hi @Snafflebit. No worries, it's good to be cautious and do your due diligence.

The platform is open to everyone, from beginner to expert. We appreciate having knowledgeable people like, I guess, a lot of users of this forum.
In fact, we already have quite experienced co-winemakers. Some follow a WSET training. Others have their own vineyard or winery.

When you sign up for MyViny you gain access to a platform with discussions similar to WMT where the vintner, the vineyard manager and the cellar master are available to answer technical questions.
