Hi,
I'm Ken. Making wine seems so interesting and it's like bottling the summer's harvest so you can enjoy the bounty all throughout the winter.
I'm curious about making my own wine mixed with fruits.
Nice to meet you all.

Good Morning Ken and welcome. Enjoy the forum, there's lots here. Any perticular fruits your thinking of using for wine? We have some great recipes here.

First wine

Hi Steve,

I have this 28 day wine kit which is a Raspberry White Zinfandel by RJ Spagnols.
I'm hoping to ferment it along with other fruits Im not sure what yet: probably blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates, mango, apricot, pear, etc.

Since there's a big list of fruits that I want to try, I thought I'd get 2 carboys just in case. I'll probably use fresh fruits (does it have to be organic?) and I'll blend and boil it just so some microbes will die off.

I'm thinking I might do an orange-pear-tangerines and a berries blend for my second wine.

Any comments or suggestion greatly appreciated!

Welcome to WMT. As others have stated there are a ton of recipes listed on the site. Best advise I can give you is to ask questions if you have any before proceeding with any of the recipes. THis would go for recipes from fresh fruit or even if you have questions regarding the kit instructions. The knowledge is here if you take advantage of it.

Thanks so much for the input... and so quick!
Its good to know the forum here is so active.
I haven't decided yet on a recipe but I'll probably borrow ideas here and there to make my own and I'll let you guys know my recipe and how I'll make it just before I actually start making my own. Thanks.

Hey Ken, welcome to the hobby! Feel free to ask any and all of your questions. Before venturing out on your own blindfolded, post what you're doing here. There is someone else undoubtedly that already did it and tweaked it one way or another. We're all here to help each other.

Welcome to our side of the net Ken. Wine making starts out as a fun hobby then turns into a crazy obsession so be careful not to end up ;like us with 15 carboys and 1000 bottles in your cellar which used to be a spare room or something! :)
