Different strokes for different folks. I don't eat ANY sausage, so it doesn't matter where it comes from. I prefer to eat venison as whole cuts. By making a lil joke with pix of my delicious steaks, I am not suggesting you shouldn't do you.
We eat the deer backstraps and tenderloins whole. Everything else is sausage. On the other hand, there's lots of steaks and roasts from the cow elk I got last fall.

I bought 2 dozen just last week from Costco for $8! Costco is known for selling things the same price at all stores IIRC so looks like they have shot up even more looking at your pic.

Doing the math, 18 @ 5.99 = .332777777777778 x 12 = $3.993333333333333 a dozen. Or, the organics are a bit higher at $5.995 a dozen.

The Organic package was $8.19 for 24 a week ago. Our local warehouse did not have the 18 pack. That's a good price for the 18 pack in 2025......

That's a pretty good jump, all right. The egg lady went up to $3.50/dozen, too. But her input costs have risen 25% just in the last few months, so I can't blame her. Mainly, I was shopping for canned soup, and they didn't have my brand, and the brand they did have, they had only one flavor, chicken noodle. When they had it. It was out of stock. 😄

I don't see how she could buy feed and sell for that price.

Backyard birds get to eat a lot of cheaper stuff besides commercial feed. Tell ya the truth, IDC if she raises it to $5/dz tomorrow, I will still pay her before I give it to a corporation, if the option is there. But don't you DARE tell her that! 🤣

Yea but anybody who raises chickens knows you will get a better egg with better nutrition which is where the feed comes in. Even if it's only a cup or two each day.

My 7 free range hens will clean out the hanging feeder in a week during the winter. In the summer it will last a month or more. But they are true free range… worms, bugs, small snakes, seeds, and even some green stuff. They fend for themselves and give me the most amazing eggs.
