Racking canes

I'd be interested in seeing pics, or hearing descriptions of any homemade racking canes. Not sure why anyone would want to make their own, when the real deal costs under $5, but in my case I'd have to mail order one.

Thanks! I know what they are and how they're used. I was just curious if any DIY'ers had come up with something nifty from stuff they had on hand.

i use a piece of cpvc pipe with a siphon hose that i actually slip through the pipie works great.

Ah! Sounds good. Kinda like a, "I couldda had a V-8!" moment.

So how do you guys keep the end of the cane out of the sediment, other than guess and luck. It's not a problem in a carboy, but racking out of a primary bucket, for me, is a stab in the dark.
