I picked up my grapes this weekend from my local HBS. California grapes from Colavita & Sons. I ordered 3 lugs of Cabernet Sauvignon (says from Dana Smith Vineyard), 3 lugs of Merlot (no vineyard noted) and 1 lug of Cabernet Franc (Laguna Creek Ranch).

The measurements are coming in right where I would have wanted them and conspicuously on top of each other.

Brix 23.5, 23 and 23 respectively
PH 3.4, 3.4 and 3.4
TA about 8% on all (using quick test so hard to tell)

If I didn't know better I would have thought I have 7 lugs of the same grape.

Anyone experience similar consistency across varietals? Am I missing something or just have my hands on some consistent harvest grapes?

Thanks!

Got to say, those must be some pretty fine grapes!

This year, all of my grapes had above average to high sugar, and very low acid. Could be that my grapes were just over ripe or a little old.

I think that's been true for all of CA. Mine were insanely high in sugar.
