This thread recently surpassed 1000 pages and over 10,000 posts, It was created October 6, 2009 with one of the original moderators, Tom. It's kind of strange but I can still remember the day he posted it and responding to it. I'll never forget him telling me back then how lucky I was to live close enough to Walkers to run up there. Back in the day, Wade, Tom and Grapeman (Rich) were the great mentors. There were other ones but if I start mentioning names I'll forget other ones. There was no way in Hel! the number of awesome winemakers we have today nor the level of talent everyone shows today.:try

that's really cool Dan! Its a great forum! No doubt about it.
Its feels like a library and every member is one of the books. Some of the best are here. you all humble me for sure and Im grateful <3

Wow, who would have ever thought that one thread would go this far? I came on bout a month and a half after that thread started. I remember Tom was and still is a mod, Wade was and still is Admin and St. Allie was and still is Tech Admin. I miss her. Thanks for the memory lane, Dan.

it is a nice way to unload the burdens or achievements of the day with your peers.

We too are lucky to be here and have so much hand holding as newbies. We love this forum! AND greatly appreciate all the help.

Good god, that thread is still going! I'm gonna have delete that 1! LOL

I think most newbies will never be able to read all those pages. One is talking days to get through those posts! I doubt anyone has that kind of time. We surely don't.

Might be a good idea to delete it and start a new one. But my gut feeling is it will grow huge in a short time because there are many more users here now than in 2009.

:ft:ft Are you drinking or what! :mThat is the most insane thing I have ever heard. I don't get rattled too easy so early in the morning but for you to want to delete 4 years of history is in sane. There are a lot of great wine makers that have come and gone that have posts in there. Doing Google searches will often take you to a post in that thread. I was doing on line researches yesterday and so many tmes I was taken right back to threads in this forum.

Think about it, would you throw out your mothers diary if she had one?

Dan you are correct! I hate the search here and use Google to find what I am looking for. I simply type winemaking talk and the subject and it makes it a breeze to find what I am looking for pointing right back here.

Maybe reference a new thread and lock it and start a new one. Because you are correct, there is a lot of good information in that thread!
It would take way too long to pull out the "good stuff" from such a long thread.

I agree the search on this forum is not great. I'm not looking to be correct or anything like that but I would never shut down the biggest thread we have going (relevent or not). That would be like taking away the biggest impulse item a customer would buy from a business one is running.

From searches I have done that lead back to this thread I have seen names that I don't recognize. I wonder and I suppose you do too, "what became of them"? Did they drink their selves to death? Last statement is meant to be funny and not serious! I just want to be clear.

The only things that get deleted are 1's that are offensive to many people! Eliminating that many posts would be insane! The more posts and or threads there are on a forum makes it much more common for someone using a search engine to find this forum and become a new member and 1 of this growing family. Not to mention that would devastate Runningwolfs Post count!!!!!!!!!! LOL:):p

I took the idea from here to the ATV site where I function as a moderator. The "What Are You Doing Today?" thread on that site quickly became the favorate and most-posted. The topic is sinfully self-indulgent. Everyone loves it, talking about oneself. :i

It's not the same one, Wade. Just a carefully crafted facsimile. :D

We just finishing bottling:
IM Blueberry Pinot Noir
IM Exotic Fruits White Zinfandel
