Is it ok to run a load of beer and wine bottles with soap in a dishwasher to clean them ?

Also would it hurt to run the machine with sodium bisulfate in the soap area ?? or should i just sanitize them with the machine on high temp with nothing but water ?

Let me know what you do !

Several on here use dish washers in some capacity or another. Maybe they will post.

As far as Kmeta in a dishwasher, Kmeta is very corrosive to metal. I would think it could damage some of the parts over time.

If the bottles have labels still on, seems they could create a mess in the bottom of the dish washer. I guess if you clean the screen/filter really well it wouldn't be too big an issue. I just have no experience using a dish washer for bottles.

Not that I have bottled wine yet....but for our beer, we load up the dishwasher with a dishwasher tablet and press all the "high" buttons - Heavy/potsnpans wash, hi-temp scrub, and Sani-rinse and let the dry cylce run; then we go straight to bottling and at least with the beer we've had no bad things happen with this.

I wouldn't put anything other than a dishwasher approved type of solvent in there!

We've also taken just clean bottles that have been sitting upside down and rinsed them with the Star-San solution either with a spray bottle or you can buy a pumping/dispenser dish thingy that is a bowl that holds the solution with a stem in the middle that you place the bottle over and pump the solution into and it runs back into the bowl itself. This works great for both beer and wine bottles and even attached to a bottle tree if needed. No problems with this either.

I have used a dishwasher to sanitize bottles AFTER THEY WERE CLEAN. I wouldn't trust the tiny opening in a wine bottle to let enough soap inside the bottle for washing, but my dishwasher has a sanitize setting so I used that. It gets very hot, killing anything left on the bottles.

Woah ill scrap the labes off first !lol

Ill rinse and soak in bleach first. Was just thinking about useing the washer just prior to bottling.

I clean mine in a laundry tub filled with either B-Brite or Oxyclean Free using a bottle brush on each one individually. Just prior to bottling, I sanitize the inside of each bottle with a spray of K-meta solution.

I have to add that before we put them into the dishwasher we PBW them and remove labels for sure.
