I'm going to start this kit soon. I'm wanting the color to turn out pink instead of light yellow. Can I do this by adding red wine concentrate to the primary? Will doing so also bump the abv? Also, if adding the red wine concentrate gives me the pink color I'm looking for would I still add the F pack like normal?

Thanks for any help. This will be my 5th wine kit I've done. Other than adding sugar to primary fermentation I haven't strayed from the directions of the other kits I have done.

You can either add red food coloring or add red wine concentrate. You should still add the f-pack as normal.

I have made this kit and it is very tasty. I typically add 3/4 of the fpack to reduce sweetness, but that's my personal preference.

Heatherd We made this kit about 9 months ago. Added the full fpack. We've just now started drinking it. It taste great to us but then we like sweet wines. In fact we've bought another kit that we are about to start.

I have read of other people who like their wines dry, adding part of the fpack up front. I guess the idea is to let the yeast consume the sugar and presumably leave any flavoring in tack. They then refrigerate the rest of the fpack until fermentation is done and add it per the instructions. I've never tried this because as I said we like sweet wines. However, it seems like this might be a better approach than using part of the fpack and pouring the rest down the drain.

Interesting, I haven't tried that approach either. Seems like it would lead to a higher ABV, in addition to imparting the flavor of the f pack.
