Hello everyone,

I've had a small wall section knocked down in the loft to create a storage space. The idea was to store my wine in there along with other alcoholic spirit bottles. The storage space is enclosed and will have a door. It is a square of 4.5 feet x 4.5 feet with a downward sloping roof, not very high.

I had originally planned to put some wine racks inside for my wine bottles but now thinking of putting a wine cooler in there as the storage will get hot in the summer since it's in the loft. I was leaning towards an integrated one as those are designed for enclosed spaces. Unfortunately, there is no ventilation :( but I could put some ventilation grills in the door and wanted the community's thoughts on whether that would suffice to manage any heat generated by the wine cooler?

The door is yet to be installed so I can ask the carpenter to fix a ventilation grill in it.

I have attached a few photos for visualisation. All comments and any advice is deeply appreciated. Thank you.20241112_230302.jpgScreenshot_20241113_225323_WhatsApp.jpgView attachment 1000001222.jpgView attachment 1000001223.jpg

Welcome to WMT!

I don’t have an answer about the grill so I will leave that to others to answer, but I definitely would NOT store wine in a hot space without a wine cooler/fridge so you're on the right track using that.

If you want a cheaper wine cooler fridge, try the local thrift store/Goodwill. I found a Fridge only, upright that can hold over 100 stacked bottles for $25.00. I made sure it worked. It was missing some shelves, but I made some out of wood that would slide into the metal shelf slots. Drilled holes into the plywood. Stuck it in the garage. Has lasted for a few years. Hold my homemade beer and cider also. i keep it about 50. It cannot go lower and when it fails? so what.
