SWMBO has generously offered to buy "me" a wine frig. I'm looking in the 18-36 bottle range, dual-zone optional.

I've looked online at a few and reviews are alll over the map. Then it occured to me - I can get better reviews at WMT!!

So, what brand/model do you have and do you have anything good to report? Anything bad to report?

I thought about buying one a few years back but then just put an AC in the winery. Boom! Instant 1000 bottle wine cooler for $125!

Honestly I have not heard much good on them. The cheap ones don't have a compressor and they only work in a limited range of temps. The expensive ones that have the compressor are notorious for going out just after the warranty period has expired..... If you purchase with an American Express you will get up to an extra year on the warranty for free.

Thanks Mike. I'm not worried about the cellar. I'm looking to add something to the kitchen to get the wine out of the regular fridge and have it served at a better temp.

At the temps we keep the house, the Peltier models should do fine.

A number of years age my "kids" bought me a 45 bottle fridge from Home Depot. Now it has 1 control but, cold drops so whites on bottom reds on top area. Works fine.
U looking for counter top of floor model?

I got one from Home Depot too. Might be the same one Tom has. It works for me. Only one zone. I keep mostly whites in it. Plan ahead for the reds I keep in it. I think it's called Vissani.

I have a DANBY ... it has some very bad reviews but mine works great. I bought it from a restraint supply company. I did a lot of research and found most will not cold enough. The guy that sold it to me said it was their best seller. We keep the white side at 39 degrees and the red side at 50 degrees. Not one problem in 3 years.

GE is a hunk of junk. I have a Kenmore Elite that I really like. And the replacement warranty from Sears was worth the extra money in my opinion. Mine is the ~40 bottle dual zone. The only problem is when it loses power it reverts to a low temperature.

I did alot of research and found that the biggest issue is the fact that the coolers do not fit as many bottles as the literature claims.

I picked up an awesome like new 40 bottle cooler at a tag sale in Fairfield County that I'm not using. I would sell it to you but you are a little far away!

Thanks everybody for the replies. I'm excited about having my dry reds chilled properly (less than the regular frig)!!

Nice frig! Unfortunately I don't have the space for that much frig.
