Hello everyone! I am about ready to start a new kit that I want to turn into a ruby port! I have a blueprint somewhat to get me there. I'm looking for suggestions to use as a kit.

My available options are either winexpert or cellar craft.

What do you think I should start with :)

I was thinking of taking a zin or cab or even a Malbec kit and adding sugar and brandy to make it a true port kit.

Mark I've been thinking on the same line. Tempranillo is one of the 5 main grapes used to make port so I was considering taking a concentrate kit and not watering it down and adding as much sugar as necessary. The last port kit I made started at SB 1.158. Any idea what SG concentrate kits are before adding water?
I'm thinking..Amarone Port, Malbec Port, Shiraz...the list goes on and on.

About 1 1/2 years ago, I took a gallon of fermented WE Barolo and added 1 liter ruby port, 500 ml of brandy and 10 cubes of French heavy toast oak. Bottled 4 months later and stuck in my tornado shelter. Now you have me watching the weather channel for a tornado warning!
