I have 5g of cab sauv bulk aging from Spring. Thinking about doing 5g of sangiovese Italian juice in Oct. then blending some and leaving some separate. Any suggestions?

I have a little group of local winemakers on WhatsApp chat. Whenever this discussion comes up, someone uses the hashtag #blendsrule. I think it is really true that a blend of complimentary wines is way better than the wines individually. Like eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is way better than eating a peanut butter sandwich or a jelly sandwich.

That sounds good to me. Super Tuscan it is then.

Try 50/50, 25/75, and 75/25 blends to start. Do a double-blind. You blend them, label them 1, 2, and 3 and cover the labels. A friend, reorders the wines and labels them A, B, and C, again, covering the labels.

Taste and rank them best to least, then uncover the labels. This avoids unconscious bias.

Plus, it's fun!
