Well, I don't have any experience, but I do have two thoughts. First is that Scottlabs recommends either Enoferm Syrah or Lalvin Clos. These are both available from Morewine.
The other is to look at what is recommended for Carignan(e)'s "stablemates." That is, the areas that grow Carignan(e) also tend to grow Tempranillo and Grenache, and sometimes Syrah.
