difference between grape skin pack and raisins

Is there an advantage of grape packs over raisins? It seems grape skins are held in really high regard for wine kits but raisins would do the same thing no?
 
They are not the same thing. Yes, they can contribute some of the same compounds, but the taste and color they impart are quite different. Much like the difference between the taste of prunes vs plums. Both have bitter skins, but the bitterness is masked on the prune due to the extra sweetness. There is also the oxidation in the fruit, which also contributes to different tastes.
