Several people around here say they dry the elderberry, have not complained about green goo at all. One who flavors her kombucha was entirely unfamiliar with the concept.
Unfortunately for me, I made jam and wine from the small amount I had fresh this yeat, and was very familiar with goo. The berries and pressings I put into vodka to steep had no goo at all. That may be a way to get around this, if the end product is what is wanted.
all of mine are done with fresh elderberries, Dawn dishwashing will do the cleaning trick,

We're lucky in the UK, we don't get the green gunge from our wild Elderberries.
Winemanden, we're all so sorry to hear that you don't have the green goo there in the UK. We got together and took up a collection. A 10 gallon bucket of green goo is on its way to Banbury! That's OK - no need to thank us. We didn't want you to miss out on the fun and we take care of our own!!!🤣

Thank you so much. I have ordered a 5 gallon drum of vegetable oil in anticipation of your kind gift.
I don't know the custom regulations, I just hope it gets through and is not considered a terrorist plot!
