The filters I have for my whole house wine filtering system are a hard compacted type of medium , from Lowe's wine making department. After use I wash bag and freeze, it looks brand new, just to be on the safe side I boiled it today for about 20 minutes to clean out any bugs but maybe I'm being penny wise and dollar foolish. Anybody else reuse filters? What do you think? bk

from Lowe's wine making department. Man I gotta go shopping at Lowes if the big boxes are starting to carry wine supplies!

I would never boil a filter. They are just not made for water that hot and I would be afraid of it breaking down. Running a gallon of k-meta sanitizer through it is what I do. After that I dump any sanitizer out of the containers/hoses and give the filter a quick shake. Next I fill one or two bottles of wine and dump them back into the carboy.

By doing this you are not recontaminating anything by rinsing with water. Dumping the first one or two bottles back into the carboy means the first bottles are not getting hit with a concentration of k-meta.

I agree, it's just my nature. I wonder what it's made of ? bk

They look similiar to the ones I was and still am selling as I stil have a decent supply of the filters. The ones I am selling are thermally bonded polypropylene fibers with a substarte inside. May I ask wht yo paid for that filter. Im not looking to get any as I probably wont be selling anymore once Im done with the ones I still have.

Wade, I'll find out how much I paid, How much yours going for? bk
