After much care and feeding of my wife's White Chocolate Port I was getting ready to bottle when I took an SG reading, to say the least I was taken aback! Finding nothing in the instructions regarding the final SG reading, what do you think it should be? And to top it off, literally, I added 375 ml of Grappa. bk

Seeing as how when its done fermenting its about 1.020-1. 030 and the you add the finishing pack Id say the gravity is about 1.045 or there abouts.

And the winner is... Wade. With the 375 ml of Grappa it has finished out at 1.030, with a PH 0f 3.75. I think I "fortify" it a little more, it should be a knockout, literally. bk

I wouldnt bother testing PH on kits. They are pretty well balanced and youll be wasting solutions or litmus paper or what ever you atre using to test. If your doing it to get practice though that is fine.

Wade, I sprung for a Hanna PH meter, so it cost's me whether I use it or not, I have found that when calculating Sulfate the amount is about half the recommended amount when testing PH and using the chart. Now the testing kit for the free SO2 is another story. bk
