I bought the home filter and cartridge from Filtersfast.com, as depicted in the PDF file posted here.

Do you guys rinse the filter housing AND filter itself at all?
I want to try this on my quad berry DB, which has been clearing VERY slow after back sweetening.

Thoughts?

I have well water at home, if any rinsing I need to use bottled water, what about rinsing with solution of k-meta and drain let go dry?

..

Wouldn't hurt a bit. Sanitized the housing also. When I setup my plate and frame filter I circulate and flush the pads before use for 20 minutes to hydrate the pads. This helps to remove a cardboard taste. Flush the filter.

oh man, was just going to start bottleing with filter and realized I can't find my Teflon or plummer tape to wrap the plastic hose barbs...

I can't go to home depot now (no car in the house)...grrrrr

I always run a couple gallons of Kmeta solution through filter before bottling. Yes it adds a trace amount to the wine but I feel better doing it.

Today I filtered 5 gallons of wine using my allinone, and for the first time, my house filter from fastfilters. I remove the red button on top and used food safe silicone. I also did from reading on here installed a tube inside the filter housing, and that worked out GREAT!!! Very, very little wine was left behind. I can't tell you how easy this went today. The other filtr that I was using, the one with the pads, always lost some wine. I only had to top off the carboy with less then .375ml of wine. :h And what I did with with the filter, I put it in my corkado (did I spell it right, lol) for a few hours, and added some k-meta in the filter housing and through all the hoses.

a tube inside the filter housing?, what is that for and what kind of tube?

I tapped the inside of the filter housing to thread in a 1/2" plastic pipe so it will suck all the way to the bottom without having to tip the housing when done.

And yes I would always run meta thru the filters or anything that will come in contact with my wine.

PG55 - also did a very same thing and gave alot more detailed instructions -

So the silicone works well enough to plug the hole? I thought it might be too soft and get sucked in.

I haven't bothered tapping the top with a tube. I simply turn the filter upside down when it's nearing the end and suck all the wine out. Harder to do if you mount your filter but it works for me.

That looks like it to me. But do you really need 10 of them. A local hardware store should have them also, and you can get yourself 2 of them.

That is the same connector for the filter fast filtering housing that is on my web page under FAQs as a link

I also sell the barb connectors for those who are purchasing a pump knowing that they will be buying the filtering latter. I would also suggest our buying 5 feet of vacuum racking hose also.

Not wanting to hijack this thread but, could you give me your thoughts on the experiences I had with a Pentek filter. TIA.
