and NO I'm not anywhere close to being as neat and organized as DangerDave.
 
I find that wine fermented in white buckets or gray buckets gets me drunk the same.

To answer the OP on a hole in the lid, since I never use the bucket as a secondary fermenter or transfer agent after primary is over, there is no need for an airlock or a hole in my method. The loose lid suffices.
