I upgraded from Office 2010 pro to 2013 pro and lost Microsoft Photo Editor. I realize I could put the 2010 disk back in and select just that to reload but the program is discontinued so it's time to move on maybe.

I am not software savy. Is there an easy to use "free" program out there I can download for free to edit photo's. I tried Paint and hate it. At least one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

What kind of photo editing do you usually do? I don't do anything fancy, just change the image size, sharpen, and auto adjust colours. I find that my favourite picture viewer (Irfanview) does the job for me. You'll need something else, if you're actually changing the picture or cropping or ....

Cropping is a big thing for me. Other than that mostly reducing the file size. I did download Gimp which is free but looks complicated. One thing I can't do with gimp is right click on a pic, select open with and have it show up as a choice.

Gimp is probably your best bet.

I like that for freeware.

But it has the same look and feel as photoshop which i am knew how to use - so Gimp was not that hard for me to pick up.

Install it and play around with it - there is also a lot of documentation online for Gimp..

Gimp is a great freeware program. It does have a learning curve but is well worth it. As winemaker stated, there is a lot of info on it online. I used youtube when I first started getting into Gimp, there are quite a few videos on different topics pertaining to using Gimp.

For cropping and resizing type operations I use a freeware program called IrfanView. It supports lots of images types and you can even use it to set up a slideshow.

Thanks for the info and link. I just downloaded it and I think this is exactly what I was looking for. It is link so when I pull up a picture and click on open it is one of the choices. Steve this program does crop. I will have to play around with it to get comfortable but I like it.

I will also try to play with Gimp to get a little better on a more sophisticated program.

Yeah play with GIMP - IMHO - it is the one of the best freeware imaging software - very comparable to photoshop...

Is it sad that I'm 25 years old and can't use any of these programs in a high-functioning enough manner to create even the simplest of labels? I am thinking of creating my labels with construction paper and crayons.
