I made coffee in my kitchen this morning for the first time in 9 months. Also, had a meal at the table there this evening. Still a couple small things to do before moving on. For one, I am waiting on brushed brass handles for the appliances. Good thing they are not here and installed, since we have found that one induction burner on the range does not work with any pans that work on the others, so we will be contacting Costco to see what happens now. But the construction is 99.9% done.

And just for fun, a shot of the project receipts envelope!

Looks great! Love the table!!👌 How about a before and after view of the whole kitchen?

Beautiful job Jim. Absolutely worth the sweat and planning you put into it. Do you have a rough idea how much you saved vs. having it done for you?

Thanks! I saved almost $30K, Mike. But the main reason I DIY is because I know it has been done right. Both places where I had contractors come in – the countertop and the cabinet installation – have flaws. And project time-wise, I am about right for a deep renovation like this one, even though it is 3 months longer than my projection was. Much of that was wait time for parts and scheduling that were out of my control. I have a friend who hired a deep remodel done that started in January 2024 and that project is still ongoing – with the kitchen still unusable.

@bstnh1 wants a before and after... It's good to remember where we started... this was just as the old cabinets began to come down...

...and this was once the cabinets were gone and I was working on replacing the rotted floor, lower wall and plumbing...

There was some rewiring, I expanded the doorway into the living room, etc.

After...

UPDATE ON COSTCO: Called them today, told them the range back burner does not work. BOOM! Instant action. They are working to replace the entire range now. PRAYING this delivery and installation won't be jinxed! 😄
