You better run like you stole something because you just did! Last time I saw a local FB post for eggs grown here in town they were $5 a dozen.

I just paid $4.19 for large today at my local super market. One has to be careful when comparing one store to another. I was told the size rating on the package is provided by the producer, so one company's "large" may be another company's "medium." I notice this particularly in Costco. Their "large" is like my super market's "medium."

That shows that there is a regulation for the sizes. It does not show what producers put on their packages. I am only going by my personal experience, which one might say is anecdotal. There are also regulations for speed limits on highways and laws governing income taxes, both of which I believe are regularly violated.

Weigh your eggs. You'll find they meet the standards if their from a commercial source such as a grocery store. You might find a couple that weigh a bit under or over, but the whole dozen will meet the weight requirements.

I don't remember the exact specs, but there's a standard for how many drosophila fly (fruit fly) parts per xxx allowed in ketchup, or number of mouse hairs in flour per xxx
