That shows that there is a regulation for the sizes. It does not show what producers put on their packages. I am only going by my personal experience, which one might say is anecdotal. There are also regulations for speed limits on highways and laws governing income taxes, both of which I believe are regularly violated.
Weigh your eggs. You'll find they meet the standards if their from a commercial source such as a grocery store. You might find a couple that weigh a bit under or over, but the whole dozen will meet the weight requirements.

What you didn't want to know....

I don't remember the exact specs, but there's a standard for how many drosophila fly (fruit fly) parts per xxx allowed in ketchup, or number of mouse hairs in flour per xxx
Most folks don't want to think about the "stuff" that is in our food. I grew up with it, so I just shrug my shoulders and am happy that my digestive tract will handle it ... ;)

I'd hate to think of how many black flies and no-see-ums I've inhaled and swallowed.

Shrug. Country life.
There's a woman near me who sells them for $3 a dozen And the eggs are huge - most up around 2.8 - 2.9 oz. The smaller ones, which weigh the same as commercial large, she sells for $3 an 18 pack. Helluva deal!!!

My egg lady's eggs run large, too. But $3 for 18 is like stealing them, since feed and supplies have gone up about 25% over the past couple years.

I'd much rather give her the money than some store. I can literally see the flock my eggs came from as I drive up. She has a mini-fridge on her porch, and inside the door is an envelope for the money. Now, THAT is country! :)

A few bugs in our food is probably not nearly as bad for our health as all the chemicals that they add.

I'll say this, there are never any problems with bugs in my wine! And if one does fly in the glass, that bad boy is knocked out quick so I can use a pinkie to daintily remove him. Or her, as the case may be, don't ya know.

I figure that my harvested berries probably have some fruit fly larvae in them. They are too small for me to worry about. Extra protein!

That's why I like my food cooked. Or as I tell folks, I like my parasites cooked, plus whatever else is in there. There are 50 some million nematodes for every human on this planet. Think about that next time you eat something. Ever been to a meat packing plant? You might give up hot dogs and baloney..
