Different strokes for different folks. I don't eat ANY sausage, so it doesn't matter where it comes from. I prefer to eat venison as whole cuts. By making a lil joke with pix of my delicious steaks, I am not suggesting you shouldn't do you.
We eat the deer backstraps and tenderloins whole. Everything else is sausage. On the other hand, there's lots of steaks and roasts from the cow elk I got last fall.

@ibglowin, that a good wow or a bad wow? Cuz they are still cheaper from my egg lady up the road.
I bought 2 dozen just last week from Costco for $8! Costco is known for selling things the same price at all stores IIRC so looks like they have shot up even more looking at your pic.

Doing the math, 18 @ 5.99 = .332777777777778 x 12 = $3.993333333333333 a dozen. Or, the organics are a bit higher at $5.995 a dozen.

The Organic package was $8.19 for 24 a week ago. Our local warehouse did not have the 18 pack. That's a good price for the 18 pack in 2025......

That's a pretty good jump, all right. The egg lady went up to $3.50/dozen, too. But her input costs have risen 25% just in the last few months, so I can't blame her. Mainly, I was shopping for canned soup, and they didn't have my brand, and the brand they did have, they had only one flavor, chicken noodle. When they had it. It was out of stock. 😄

I don't see how she could buy feed and sell for that price.

Backyard birds get to eat a lot of cheaper stuff besides commercial feed. Tell ya the truth, IDC if she raises it to $5/dz tomorrow, I will still pay her before I give it to a corporation, if the option is there. But don't you DARE tell her that! 🤣

Yea but anybody who raises chickens knows you will get a better egg with better nutrition which is where the feed comes in. Even if it's only a cup or two each day.

My 7 free range hens will clean out the hanging feeder in a week during the winter. In the summer it will last a month or more. But they are true free range… worms, bugs, small snakes, seeds, and even some green stuff. They fend for themselves and give me the most amazing eggs.

My egg lady sells them for $3 a dozen. She sells smaller ones 18 for $3. I don't complain!!! 😊 They're all ungraded, but the 12 packs I've weighed are 2.6 - 2.9 oz. and the 18 packs weigh 2.0 to 2.4 oz.

Have you ever tried canning meat? Cut the meat up in pieces that fit into a quart jar, drop a beef bouillon cut in the bottom before packing the meat pieces in, fill with water to about 3/4 inch from the top with water. Cook in a pressure cooker/canner for about 45 minutes. Meat comes out tender and will last on the shelf for a couple years (or more).

I do and it’s delicious. Check those pressure and temps though. Canned meats typically take an hour or more at pressure. That’s why they are fall-apart tender.

I eat canned meat, although I don't process it myself. I buy it at the grocery store. It's called SPAM!

I leaned from those older than me. To quote a wise woman I knew 'Honey, you can process anything for 45 minutes in a pressure cooker.' I always marvel at the stuff I see canned at the fair in the cooking area. Chili, veggie soup, veggies, you name it. I try to get picked as a judge for the baked goods, but I obviously don't have enough pull to land that gig. And you're right, it is tender and falls apart. It's a good choice for those cuts that tend to be less tender cooked in other ways. Also good for wild meat that may be a little gamey otherwise.

That's why I vastly prefer that kind of eggs! I have fried them up for people who never had them before just to see them when they take the first bite. :) And the yolks! Whoa.
