Has anyone heard when Fine Vine Wines will be shipping the Alpine Foothills Italian Barbaresco? I could answer my own question and say right after they receive them. So then the next question would be do they know when they will be receiving this RQ?

It's an April 2009 release. So sometime in April ....... Sounds like a good one.

My mistake I had it listed as release in January. Now I just have to wait that must longer.

I am really looking forward to this one as well. Hopefully I'll have a carboy ready when it arrives, if not I may have to buy another.

Yeah, I can't wait for this one as well as the Okanagan meritage. I'm still thinking about the Müller-Thurgau too, and I know I have to think fast on that one.

Vinnie, so you're chomping at the bit, ready to get started. I'm also anxiously awaiting the arrival of my first LE. I think my Meglioli comes in Feb., then one LE in March and two in April, including the RJS Barbaresco.

I thought I would cut back this year, but you only get one chance with these LE and RQ’s and I would hate to read about how good a kit is and did not make it myself. So besides the Barbaresco I also will be getting: January WE New Zealand Merlot, Feb WE Cabernet Sauvignon, March RQ Red Meritage, April WE Italian Dolcetto, May CC Old Vines Mencia.

Sounds like a tasty plan.

So I finally got around to opening a bottle of this one last night. When it was bottled it was alright nothing really stood out, except maybe the oak was a bit heavy. Happy to say - YUM!!! A very nice wine that even my sons enjoyed. Glad I waited to open a bottle as I would have hated to drink one before it was ready.

Hi all,

Please help me understand, I did not see this in the RQ offerings on this site nor did i see it on the Spagnols site?

This was offered a couple of years ago from RJS. Sadly it is no longer available as it was a limited edition or as they call it a RQ (restricted quantity). I would really suggest that everyone look closely at all of these limited offerings, because no matter what manufacturer these kits are special wines. I still have some from 2007 that seem to be just hitting their stride.

I love the LE's.
I agree with vcasey about the LE's or restricted quantity wines. They come across for me as much richer wines.

The nice thing about RJS, is that if a RQ is very popular and they can continue to source the juice, they will make it part of the regular lineup in the Cru Select line. Some notable RQs that are now regular are:

Australian Bush Vine Grenache
Italian Brunello
Italian Valpolicella Ripassa
New Zealand Unoaked Chardonnay
Okanagan Valley Red Meritage

There are others, but I'm too tired to remember them all now. Sadly, some of the better ones, never make it due to limited juice resources. The Spanish Monastrell Cabernet from 2006 was one of the best RQs I've ever done, and was never to be seen again. I still have 3 bottles left that I jealously guard.

Yeah It would have helped if i looked at the post date

Don't feel bad at all.
I imagine we have all done that. I spent an entire day on internet and phone trying to track down something I saw in a post. Finally I realized the post was two years old and it was a RQ. After laughing at myself I went back to try to delete all the stupid posts I made asking where to buy some.

We just opened the Okanagan Valley Red Meritage tonight and I'm glad to see it it now in the regular line up. Wonderful wine and I'm glad I waited for this to mature before opening any of my stock!
