I'm having some issues with me Portuguese floor corker. It seems to be pushing the cork into the bottle before it's fully compressed, or at least that's my guess. Are there adjustments to make or is this think trash already :? Here I added some pics for you evaluation.

thanks

Steve

what type of corks are you using ?
it apears that the cork actually got torn or ripped

steve

It's the "First Choice" sold by JD Carlson. But They've only reciently started doing this. That's why it appears the corks are being pushed out of the corker before they're compressed/in the proper position.

Have you been soaking them in K-meta for a long period of time. If so, they might be breaking down. As small as the corkers compress them it's hard to believe they are having a hard time going in. Is the bottle "registering" exactly in the middle of the opening? I don't know of any adjustments other than the one for depth.

I just spray with K-Metta then towel off so no. I can't figure this one out. I did try sanding in case of Burs on the metal opening. I don't know what else to look for.

Steve, it would be more likely that there is a burr on the iris. I think that is a nylon iris in the Portugese corker. See if maybe a pice of dirt or something hard may have gotten trapped in the iris and scratched it. I don't think the cork touches the metal opening, does it?

Steve , just rembered, try pushing some corks thru without a bottle and see if you are still having the same problem - if not hopefully sanding the iris may of fixed your problem.

thanks steve

Steve:

How old is the corker? The mechanism can get out of alignment with age and wear.

I know my mechanism has gotten out of alignment with age and wear. :)

Well, as we say in aviation, it was "Stick Actuator Error" There appears to be a little bit of slop in how the bottle sits in the ready position. I just bottled my Riesling and payed attention and, everything was fine. As Vacuumpumpman and I discussed. There's no such thing as a stupid question...just STUPID people asking them :slp :)

Mike, this sounds like Dan is influencing you on your commments, you will be headed to the corner if you keep this up, :)

You're right, Julie! It's all Dan's fault. He's leading me down the path of evil and corruption. ::::::
