    Heat Shink Foils ??

    Heat gun, fast & easy. Gun hangs from the ceiling in work area. No trips to the kitchen to heat water, No carrying wine up to the kitchen or water down to the cellar. :b

    Now you're copying my trick Tom. I do it with brown paper shopping bags. A hole in the bottom for the airlock. However, I have to keep repairing them with tape since BH is now using cloth bags to be green. :b

    Hydrometer Correction

    My cellar temps are always between 58F and 78F. My hydrometer is calibrated at 60F. I only use it for the initial reading. I never correct it, the variance is, IMHO of no consequence.

    DIY Temperature control

    I use a trouble light with a 100 W bulb placed next or between carboys. I've thought about a brew belt but I don't know how my glass carboys will like it. Has anyone had a problem with cracking or breaking the glass carboys? :b

    Dan, I usually make my final rack from carboy to 1 gal glass jugs. It'll be another month so I'll try it then. I'll let you know how it works out. :b
