Looking for opinions. This is a second year vine. Rest in row are doing just fine, but this one is dying. It just slowly started wilting. I'm to the point where I will pull it up to inspect the roots. But this is what it looled like a few days ago.IMG_2233.JPG

Any signs of gophers? A little tug on the trunk will tell you if they have been around... :(
No sign of moles, I treat the vineyard with milky spore. Don't have gophers in these parts. We do have groundhogs, but they are encouraged to stay clear. It does look like the vine was dying from lack of water. I did start watering daily, to no avail.

Lucky you - no gophers… I fight a daily battle with them.

Hmm - any damage to the vine bark - especially down near where it enters the soil? Perhaps some critter chewed through the bark layer and has disrupted the flow of moisture through the vine.
